Our Awesome God
“For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
(Col. 1:13-14; NASB)
Think about how awesome it is that while we were going about our daily lives serving the devil in all we did, God never gave up on us. I don’t know about you, but I certainly didn’t deserve a second glance from the Lord, much less being rescued by Him. He patiently waits for us to realize there is something more to our existence than personal achievements, or suffering. Most of us don’t come to that realization without some hardship. But when that hardship comes, He is there to show us the truth.
Scripture tells us that while we were living our lives against God, Jesus went willingly to the cross (see Rom. 5:8-10). The day Jesus died on that cross, everything changed. That day, you and I were given a choice of whether we would spend eternity in heaven or in hell. Since that day there have been centuries of debates over doctrine, dates and times, etc. You name it, if it has to do with Jesus, it has been argued, opposed, agreed to, believed, and discarded. But despite all of that, one thing will never change. He died so we wouldn’t have to for the sinful way we have lived our lives. Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we are transferred from darkness to light. We become His for eternity. Jesus told us:
“… I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” (John 10:28; NASB)
This is a gift that has been offered to each one of us by God, the Creator of the universe, through His Son Jesus Christ. You cannot earn it, but if you want it, it will cost you everything. In exchange, you will be brought into His kingdom. There you have the peace and comfort of knowing you have been forgiven of all of your sins by a Father who loves you unconditionally. It is a place where the enemy has been defeated and you can live by the power of Christ in you, the Holy Spirit. There are no words that can do that justice. Our God is an AWESOME God!
Have a great week and God bless.
