30th Anniversary

Invite Jesus In

“And just as it happened in the days of Noah,

so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man.”

Luke 17:26; NASB

How often do you consider God’s will in your everyday life? I think that most Christians consider God’s will from time to time, maybe during prayer or church; but how about the rest of the time? I think it’s safe to assume that most us only consider biblical teachings and answers for the more serious things in life. For things like choosing which car to buy, whether to change jobs, which movie to watch, or whether to stay home or go out after work, we decide on our own and move on. What if you were to say a quick prayer asking Jesus if you should buy that new pair of shoes, or write that letter complaining about the bad service you received at the local restaurant? You get the idea. What if you were to invite Jesus into your everyday life in a radical way?

In Luke we’re told that the people were eating, drinking, getting married, and living life with no awareness of the impending judgment God had planned. Noah was aware. Scripture tells us that Noah was a righteous and blameless man who walked with God (see Gen. 6:9). Because of his relationship with God he knew to build the ark and escaped the impending doom. We’re told it was the same in the days of Lot. The people of Sodom went about their everyday lives oblivious to what was coming. From these examples we can see that when people live life with no consideration of what God thinks about their behavior, things do not end well. Noah walked with God and so he knew to do things differently. Lot listened to God’s messengers and was saved from the fire and brimstone rainstorm.

In both cases, the people had no concern for what God wanted in their lives. They had to suffer the consequences of ignoring the Creator. Today we have the Holy Spirit who will guide us through every decision if we are aware of His voice and willing to listen. We love God’s blessings. We ask for them whenever we pray. We

seek and desire Jesus’ blessings in everything, when our desire needs to be for Jesus Himself to be in everything.

Many people today are in the same condition as the people of Noah’s day. They are unaware of how far from God they have gotten. Make a conscious decision to invite Jesus into every aspect of your life. There is no situation or decision too big or small for Him. Invite Jesus into every situation. Seek His voice and listen for His loving guidance. The benefits are eternal.

Have a great week and God bless.
