Heaven's Glory

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

Rom. 8:18; NASB

Have you ever wondered what heaven is like? It’s hard to imagine an existence with no pain (physical or emotional), free of worry and anxiety. Or a world with no hurt feelings, no bad intentions, no world hunger, no poverty and no death. None of the negative of this world, only love and acceptance. And beyond all of that, being in the presence of the Creator who loves us so much He gave His only Son so we could be there. As awesome as that sounds, judging from the accounts of heavenly visitations we get from Scripture, we can’t possibly imagine how glorious it will be.

In his prophetic vision, the Apostle John said “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth…”, then he says “And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men….’” The voice continued: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain;” (Rev. 21:1a, 3a, 4) There will be no night; no need for lamps or the sun because the Light of Almighty God will shine over everything. How awesome it will be!

By the time Paul wrote today’s passage it had been over twenty-five years since his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. He had been beaten, left for dead, run out of towns, relentlessly chased from place to place by a band of men determined to kill him, hungry, homeless, and poor. He had also at some point been “caught up into Paradise…” (see 2 Cor. 12:1-4). After everything he had been through on this earth, he considered it all worth it. Worth it because he was one day going to be in that Paradise permanently, just like every one of us who accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Whenever you encounter trials or hardships that seem overwhelming, take some time to reflect on what God has in store for you. It is promised to all believers that we will spend eternity in Paradise with Him. On top of that, His Spirit is with you right now to comfort you and guide you through whatever you are going through. Have faith that He loves you and will never forsake you and look forward to the glory that is to come.

Have a great week and God bless.
